Two gray whale mothers and calves heading north from the calving grounds in the Baja Lagoons on their way to their feeding grounds north of Alaska. Here they hug the Big Sur coastline, meandering through the kelp forest, keeping a low profile and in shallow waters to avoid detection by killer whales who ply the waters in hopes of putting gray whale calf on the menu.
